From time to time, you may have experienced moments when God touches your mind and opens your heart as if saying, "Stop and notice me! Here I am!"
These experiences can be as simple as seeing the sun touch a flower with the day's last light, which gets you thinking about how finite life can seem. Or the momentary realization while driving down the highway that you are not alone, that God is with you. Even if there's traffic!
Brian Faulkner calls these hopeful experiences God moments and has collected them in story form. He is looking forward to sharing these little lights with you.

"Brighter Than Sunlight"
FIRST LINES: A stolen Sunday nap one day a few years back found me drifting in memories of a New England mountain lake where my family used to vacation during the late '50s and early '60s. Seen from above, which I once was privileged to do thanks to a friend with a pilot's license, the lake glittered like a blue diamond set in the surrounding hills. From a rowboat lazing in it's center, I became mesmerized by glowing shafts of sunlight descending into the deep, clear water until they could be seen no more. I wondered if they would ever reach the bottom ...
LAST LINES: The storm abates and the sun appears. Its life-giving light filters down into the darkest, most secret depths of our lives, the place where sin, disappointment and doubt can overwhelm the hearts of the most stalwart of believers--sometimes almost to the point of despair. That's when Christ appears, to soften the hurt and alleviate the fear, reminding us of the unrelenting grace of God, which can turn even the most difficult and challenging circumstances into blessings. It is in this Hope that we believe. And live.

"How to Live a Spectacular and Rewarding Life"
FIRST LINES: Samuel Longhorne Clemens, the riverboat pilot, writer and keen observer of humanity, once said that the two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. Along the way, I have found, you also experiment (and sometimes even struggle) with figuring out the "what" of you life. Clemens was a lot of things--miner, journalist and businessman among others--before he sorted out his "what' and became the literary figure we revere today as Mark Twain. But the "why" of life can be a good bit harder to sort out, and the struggle to find meaning showed up in the man's writing. And my own ...
LAST LINES: Do I hope, because I have surrendered myself to God now these many years, to have a spectacular and rewarding life? Well, I've never hungered after the spectacular, so I'd likely choose a life that's less spectacular on the outside because it's more rewarding on the inside. Which is more in tune with my personality. But if the Lord decides otherwise, I'd just have to buckle up--and perhaps even enjoy--whatever spectacular ride he's chosen for me. Because the what, the where, when and how of the matter already would have been settled.
